Seattle University joined the West Coast Conference in the 1971-1972 school year, but the baseball team remained an independent until joining the baseball only Northern Pacific Conference. Baseball, which was dropped in 1980, returned to Seattle in the 2009-2010 school year. Dave Wainhouse was hired as the pitching coach in July 2008.
