Sean Jones pitched in the minor leagues and for Team Canada.
Jones was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 14th round of the 1997 Amateur Draft out of high school, and he had a 3.00 ERA in 9 games for the GCL Orioles in his first season. He went 4-2 with a 9.76 ERA for the Bluefield Orioles in 1998, and his ERA was 6.12 in 13 games in 1999. Jones then went 8-4 with a 4.33 ERA for the Delmarva Shorebirds, and he allowed 2 runs in 2 innings for the Frederick Keys in 2000. He was 5-2 with a 3.24 ERA for the Keys in 2001, and he represented Canada in the 2001 Baseball World Cup (allowing four runs, two earned, in five innings). [1] Jones had a 4-5 record with a 3.44 ERA in 2002. He pitched 14 games with a 3.42 ERA for the Joliet Jackhammers in 2003, and he notched 4 saves with a 1.38 ERA in 12 games for the Niagara Stars that season. He tied Pablo Minaya and Julian Tucker for 4th in the Canadian Baseball League in saves. He also represented Canada in the 2003 Baseball World Cup but struggled at 0-1 with a team-high 19.29 ERA; he lost to Cheng-Hsun Hsieh of Taiwan. [2] Jones only pitched one game for the Jackhammers in 2004, and he allowed 10 runs in 10 2/3 innings for the Fargo-Moorhead Redhawks. That was his last season.
He had gone 24-19 with 9 saves and a 4.59 ERA during his pro career.
