Biographical Information[edit]

Samuel Benjamin has played in the independent leagues and been on the Chinese national team.

Benjamin was born in California, although sources differ as to the exact place: his University of Houston bio gives Tracy, CA as his birthplace, while Baseball-Reference lists Walnut Creek, CA. What is not in doubt is that he grew up in Dubai, playing for Little League teams there. [1] Returning to the US by high school, he hit .175/.224/.238 as a college freshman and .250/.280/.361 as a sophomore at Houston. Transferring to Houston Christian University, he batted .354/.426/.634 with 48 RBI in 47 games in 2023 and .309/.389/.606 with 15 homers and 48 runs in 49 games as a senior.

Signing with the Lake Country DockHounds, he hit .200/.308/.364 with 14 runs in 15 games. The outfielder then was with China for the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers as his mother is Chinese. [2] Hitting cleanup and playing right in their opener against Germany, he was retired by Markus Solbach his first time up. He was 0-for-4 against both Germany and Colombia then sat out the finale.
