Biographical Information[edit]

Sam Mejias was an outfielder with a cannon arm. Unfortunately, he struggled to hit major league pitching although he did manage .278 and .286 as a part-time player for the Cincinnati Reds in 1980 and 1981, respectively.

After his playing career ended, outfielder Mejias managed in the minor leagues for a decade. He was the Seattle Mariners first base coach from 1993 to 1999 and joined the Baltimore Orioles in the same capacity for the 2007 season.
