Biographical Information[edit]

Ryota Imanari played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years. His father Yasuaki Imanari is a scout.

Imanari was drafted by the Nippon Ham Fighters in the 4th round of the 2005 NPB draft, and he stayed in the minors in his first six seasons; he only got 38 at-bats combined for the top team. The Fighters traded him to the Hanshin Tigers for Ryuji Wakatake in the middle of the 2012 season, and he hit .292/.333/.323 for his new team. Previously a catcher, he was turned into an outfielder in 2013, and he had a .265/.346/.357 batting line in 88 games. Imanari then became Hanshin's starting third baseman in 2014, and he hit .259/.303/.340 with 4 homers. He recorded a .283/.345/.320 batting line in 2015, and he played 82 games with a .227/.290/.252 batting line in 216. However, Imanari failed to return to the top team before he announced his retirement in 2018.

Overall, Imanari hit .265/.321/.324 with 275 hits and 6 homers in 8 seasons in NPB.
