Biographical Information[edit]
Ryoji Nakamura was drafted by the Kintetsu Buffaloes in the 2nd round of the 1986 NPB draft, and he shined in the NPB Farm Leagues. He led the Western League in RBI and homers in 1994 and 1995, and he was the second player to hit 100 homers in the league. Due to his solid performance, he had a nickname "Mr. Western". However, he only got 51 at-bats in the big club, and he collected 5 hits without a homer. The Buffaloes released him in 1996, and the Hanshin Tigers signed him. However, Nakamura didn't reach the big club in 1997, and he announced his retirement. He later coached Tenri University from 2008 to 2013 and Tenri High School from 2014 to 2023, and Osaka Gakuin University named him their new coach in 2024.
