Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Ruben Escalera played ten seasons in the minor leagues for the Milwaukee Brewers (1985-1991), Cincinnati Reds (1992) and three different Mexican League teams (1993-1994). In 1991, he was 5th in the Texas League with a .316 average and made the TL All-Star outfield alongside Steve Hosey and Shon Ashley. He scored 101 runs that year. Good at getting on base, Escalera lacked power, never hitting more than 7 homers for any team.

In 1995, he became a scout with the Oakland Athletics. Escalera coached for the AZL Athletics from 1996-2001 and then was promoted to manager. In 2005, he was named Arizona League Manager of the Year. Escalera also coached the AZL A's in 2016-2018.
