Biographical Information[edit]
Oliver "Rube" Sellers came up to the majors at age 29 for the last couple of months of the 1910 season with the Boston Doves. He appeared in twelve games as an outfielder and pinch-hitter, collecting five singles and walking six times. In his third game on August 13th, Sellers stroked two hits, drove in a run and stole a base, his only successful steal in four attempts.
Sellers was born in Duquesne, PA, in the Pittsburgh area. He played six seasons in the Ohio-Pennsylvania League before his brief major league stint. Later, in 1913, Sellers played for the Pittsburgh team in the nascent Federal League before it became a competing major league, leading the circuit is Games Played and At Bats.
