Biographical Information[edit]

Rouglas Odor was a shortstop in the Cleveland Indians organization from 1988-1994. In 1995, he played in the Milwaukee Brewers organization, and in the independent Texas-Louisiana League.

Odor rejoined the Indians organization in 1996 as the Field Coordinator for their Venezuelan Academy. He retained this role into early 2001. In 1999-2000 he also managed San Felipe (VSL) which was a coop team with the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers. Odor spent the next several years managing in the U.S. based lower levels of Cleveland's minor league system. He managed the Burlington Indians (Appalachian League) in 2001-2004, Mahoning Valley Scrappers (New York-Penn League) in 2005-2006, and the GCL Indians in 2007-2008.

In 2009-2010, Odor was a hitting coach for the Kinston Indians. He moved to the Akron Aeros in 2011-2012, Carolina Mudcats in 2013, Akron RubberDucks in 2014, and Columbus Clippers in 2015-2017. Odor returned to managing in 2018 with the Lynchburg Hillcats and continued to manage through the 2023 season. He was scheduled to manage the Akron RubberDucks in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Odor has the distinction of becoming the first person to wear the uniforms of the Canton-Akron Indians, Akron Aeros, and Akron RubberDucks. He played 197 games for Canton-Akron during the 1991 and 1993-1994 seasons.

In 2024, the Cleveland Guardians promoted Odor to the major league staff as third base coach and infield instructor. He retained these roles in 2025.

In addition to his work with Cleveland, Odor has extensive experience coaching in the Venezuelan League and coaching the Venezuelan national team.

Odor was originally scheduled to manage Águilas del Zulia in 2019/2020, but Major League Baseball forbade coaches affiliated with major league organizations from working in Venezuela that season due to Donald Trump administration investigations into conditions in Venezuela. Eventually Venezuelan teams gained approval and coaches returned to Venezuela the following season.

His nephew, Rougned Odor, has played in the majors. Another nephew, also named Rougned Odor has played in the minors.
