Biographical Information[edit]

Robinson Garces pitched in the minor leagues from 1984 to 1990, peaking at Double-A.

Signed by scout Noe Maduro, he began his career in the Philadelphia Phillies system, going 1-1 with a 1.01 ERA in 17 relief appearances for the GCL Phillies his first year. After a down 1985 (6.08 ERA), he departed the Phillies chain and joined the Detroit Tigers organization, where he played from 1986 to 1988. His best season there was 1988, when he went 8-6 with a 2.81 ERA in 26 starts between the Fayetteville Generals and Glens Falls Tigers. On August 31, he was shipped to the Baltimore Orioles as one of two players to be named later in a deal that sent Fred Lynn to Detroit. Chris Hoiles and Cesar Mejia, the other PTBNL, also went to Baltimore. He spent one year in the Orioles chain, the joined the Milwaukee Brewers system to wrap up his career. He went 5-6 with a 3.19 ERA in 43 games (1 start) between the Beloit Brewers and El Paso Diablos, striking out 109 in 93 innings.

Overall, he went 24-27 with a 3.25 ERA in 175 games (40 starts). In 482 innings, he allowed 393 hits and 225 walks (1.282 WHIP), while striking out 431 batters.

He later became a scout, working for the Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays. He signed Jose Capellan and Leo Ferrini.
