Biographical Information[edit]

Utility player Rob Marconi played professionally from 2004 to 2009, peaking at Single-A. He was taken by the Baltimore Orioles in the 22nd round of the 2004 amateur draft and was signed by scout Troy Hoerner.

While in the Orioles system, he played for just two teams: the Low-A Aberdeen IronBirds (2004, 2005 & 2006) and Single-A Delmarva Shorebirds (2005 & 2006). In his first two seasons, he found success at Aberdeen, hitting .325/.406/.491 in 35 games in 2004 and .302/.377/.454 in 60 games in 2005. But he struggled at Delmarva in 2005 (.181/.237/.268) and with both clubs in 2006 (.173/.248/.281 between them), thus concluding his tenure on the Orioles chain. He joined the indy ranks in 2006 and remained there through 2009. Though he never posted a .300 season, he was more daring on the basepaths, swiping as many as 24 bases in a campaign (for the Windy City Thunderbolts in 2007). In 2008, his 7 triples were second in the Northern League, behind Fehlandt Lentini's 8. In 2009, his 11 sacrifice hits were also second, behind Travis Brown's 12.

Overall, Marconi hit .262/.341/.410 with 36 homers and 197 RBI in 490 games over 6 seasons.
