Biographical Information[edit]

Richard Maibauer played in the minor leagues and in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Maibauer began his professional career with the Philadelphia Phillies, and he was 2-13 with a 7.85 ERA for the Elizabethton Phils in 1951. He also pitched 10 games for the Lima Phillies, and he returned in 1955 with the El Dorado Oilers, affiliated with the New York Giants. Maibauer was 17-6 with a 2.02 ERA that season, leading the Cotton States League in wins (by 3), tying for second in complete games (14), tying for first in shutouts (3), leading in strikeouts (197, 42 more than the runner-up) and finishing third in ERA. Among Giants farmhands, he was 5th in wins and trailed only Pete Burnside and John Fitzgerald in Ks.

He had a 6-11 record with a 3.86 ERA for the Johnstown Johnnies in 1956. He went 10-7 with a 3.33 ERA for the Dallas Eagles in 1957, and he was 12-11 with a 4.04 ERA for the Corpus Christi Giants in 1958. He was 10th in the Texas League with 131 strikeouts, between Georges Maranda and Joe Kotrany. Maibauer then went 1-2 for the Dallas Rangers in 1959, and he recorded a 5.29 ERA in 8 appearances for the Dallas-Fort Worth Rangers. The Toei Flyers signed him in 1961, and he went 6-3 with a 3.36 ERA; his professional career then ended.
