Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Rich Stoll was selected by the Montreal Expos in the first round of the 1983 amateur draft, with the 14th overall pick. He won Bronze with Team USA in the 1982 Amateur World Series.

He pitched in the Expos system from 1983 to 1987. He had great success at first, going 8-3, 3.01 for the West Palm Beach Expos of the Florida State League in 1983 and 14-7, 2.47 between AA and AAA in 1984. It looked like he would be pitching in Montreal in short order at that point, but he had a mediocre season in 1985, going 9-9, 4.08 for the Indianapolis Indians, then was hurt by an arm injury in 1986. He was still able to pitch 26 games for Indianapolis that year, including 19 starts, but he no longer had his best stuff, finishing at 5-11, 5.08, with fewer strikeouts than walks. he went back to West Palm Beach in 1988, trying to find himself again, but was released after going 0-2, 6.12 in 13 games as a reliever.
