Biographical Information[edit]

Rich Olsen has played in the minors and in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Olsen was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 4th round of the 1978 Amateur Draft, and he had a 3.30 ERA in 5 starts in his first season for the Newark Co-Pilots. He went 9-2 with a 2.49 ERA for the Holyoke Millers in 1979, and he also ha a 4-3 record with a 3.71 ERA for the AAA Vancouver Canadians. Olsen started 17 games with a 7-6 record and a 3.95 ERA in 1980 in Vancouver, and he was 9-7 with a 3.51 ERA in 1981. He then went 5-5 with a 3.56 ERA in 1982, but he slumped to 0-4 with a 8.57 ERA in 1983 and he was released. The Hanshin Tigers signed him in August, 1983, and he was 4-2 with a 2.51 ERA. He had a 2-9 record with a 4.65 ERA in 1984, and he left the team. Olsen then pitched for the Grosseto of the Serie A1 for several years, and he completed the first perfect game of the league in 1990.
