Biographical Information

Phil Coke was a draft-and-follow pick in the 26th round by the New York Yankees in 2002. A veteran of nine seasons, he saw his most action with the Detroit Tigers, assuming the team's closer role for the 2012 postseason following the implosion of Jose Valverde. Coke won a ring with the Yanks in 2009 and moved to the Motor City the ensuing season with his strongest work coming in 2010 (7-5, 3.76, 2 saves, 74 games). Flaming out in 2016, he spent a season with the Orix Buffaloes of Nippon Pro Baseball, then tried to make a comeback as a knuckleballer, finishing his career with a brief stint in the Mexican League in 2018.
