Biographical Information[edit]
Oliver Fimmers played in the Bundesliga and for the German national team.
Fimmers was 0 for 1 in the 1992 B-Level European Championship. Germany advanced to the 1993 European Championship, in which he was 1-for-8 with a walk. The first season for which Bundesliga stats are available online (as of 5/2/2026) is for 1994, when he hit .412/.592/.559 in limited action for the Cologne Cardinals. Had he qualified, he would've been 4th in the Bundesliga-1 north in OBP (between Gavin Marshall and Ralph Wentz), 7th in OBP, 8th in average and 8th in OPS. In '95, he batted .412/.505/.471 and fielded .792. He was 7th in average (between Matthias Winterrath and Dirk Günther), tied Torsten Abels for 6th in hits (35), 4th in runs and 6th in OBP. During the 1995 European Championship, he was 5 for 10 with a double, run and 3 RBI, fielding .818. He and Stefan Pößl tied for the team's top average but neither was among the qualifiers; Sven Huhnholz led their qualifiers at .409.
Moving to the Bonn Capitals for 1996, he batted .348/.434/.409 and fielded .957 in limited time in the field. He fielded .911 in 1997 and produced at a .379/.473/.442 rate with 33 runs and 23 RBI in 26 games (the league was still using aluminum bats, hence some of the high stats in his career). He tied for 7th in the Bundesliga-1 South in RBI, was 6th in hits (36), was the second-hardest batter to whiff (6 K in 95 AB), stole the 5th-most bases (17) and was 6th with 52 assists. He eked out a .100/.250/.100 line while playing regularly in the 1997 European Championship. His final season was 1998, when he hit .333/.520/.500 in limited work for Bonn. For the five seasons for which we have data, he had batted .383/.493/.460 with 109 runs and 44 steals.
