He was born in the US but moved to Sherbrooke, QC when he was two years old. He hit .325 and slugged .393 for the 1946 Sherbrooke Canadiens with 43 steals in 86 games, fielding .983 in the outfield. (The league did not list walk or run totals). He paced the Border League in steals, 15 ahead of the next-best, James Heximer and Len Zanke and led the league's starting flyhawks in fielding by .010. [1] Sherbrooke did not play in the minors in 1947 then Dussault made his NHL debut with the Montreal Canadiens, scoring 21 points in 28 games, playing center.

He played for Sherbrooke in 1949 then had a career peak of 50 NHL points with the 1949-50 Montreal team, in 67 games. He was 4th on the team in points. One of his teammates was future NHL Hall-of-Famer Doug Harvey, a fellow minor league outfielder. He hit .329 and slugged .410 for Sherbrooke that summer. Had he qualified, he would've made the Provincial League top 10 in average.

Dussault scored 34 points in 64 games for the 1950-51 Canadiens, his final NHL campaign. He then spent a few years in the Quebec Major Hockey League/Quebec Hockey League. In 1955, he returned briefly to the diamond, producing at a .307/.439/.399 clip with 77 walks in 93 games for Sherbrooke, again showing a good glove (.970). Among players with 400+ PA, he was 5th in average, second in OBP (.016 behind Bill Causion) and 10th in walks.
