Catcher Nick Koback played 16 games in the majors, all before he was 20 years old.
A star in baseball and basketball at Hartford Public High School, Koback signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates after graduation. He made his big league debut on July 19, 1953, just ten days after turning 18. He appeared in 7 games with Pittsburgh that year, hitting .125 with a triple and forming one of the youngest batteries in major league history with 19-year-old teammate Jim Waugh. After appearing in just 4 games for the Pirates in 1954 and 5 games in 1955, he was sent to the minors, never to return to the bigs.
