Biographical Information[edit]
Naoya Okuda was drafted by the Lotte Orions in the 12th round of the 1971 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first season. He pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings for the Orions in 1973, and he was traded to the Chunichi Dragons with Masao Sato for Hiroshi Tsuchiya and Norihiro Mizutani. Okuda pitched 5 games with a 2.25 ERA in the rest of the season, but he only got one more appearance for the top team before he announced his retirement in 1974.
