Biographical Information

Naomasa Yokawa had played in the Nippon Pro Baseball for 8 years.

Yokawa was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 3rd round of the 2013 NPB draft, and he was 12-for-71 in 2016 after spending 2 seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues. He led the minor Western League in doubles in 2016 (26, two ahead of Cuban veteran Bárbaro Cañizares) and tied Cañizares for the home run lead (14). He went 3-for-18 in 2017, again dominating the minors. He tied Xavier Batista for the WL dinger lead (21), trailed only Alejandro Mejia in doubles and led with 91 RBI (14 ahead of Mejia).

He hit .252/.311/.412 with 6 homers in 2018. Yokawa slumped to .109/.169/.291 in 2019, then he played 71 games with 8 homers and a .247/.333/.437 batting line in 2020; while he saw somehwat regular action, he did not get 200 plate appearances. He struggled again in 2021 as his batting line was .174/.255/.326, and he batted .294/.351/.426 in 45 games in 2022. The Seibu Lions then selected him in the 2022 NPB Active draft, and he was 4-for-24 in 2023. He went 4-for-30 in 2024, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Yokawa hit .221/.290/.372 with 24 hits in 8 seasons in the NPB.
