Biographical Information[edit]
Mototoshi Tahara played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 4 years. His brother Totaro Tahara also pitched in NPB.
Tahara signed with the Kokutetsu Swallows in 1950, and he went 13-22 with a 4.14 ERA in his first season. He was 2nd in losses in the Central League, 5 behind Ryohei Hasegawa. Tahara then had a 4-12 record with a 3.86 ERA in 1951, and he was 1-4 with a 3.64 ERA in 1952. He missed the entire 1953 season, and the Swallows released him. Tahara signed with the Chunichi Dragons, but he only pitched one game in 1954 and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Tahara was 18-38 with a 4.06 ERA, struck out 181 and pitched 496 2/3 innings in 4 seasons in NPB.
