Biographical Information[edit]

Motohiro Yoshikawa played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.

Yoshikawa was drafted by the Kintetsu Buffaloes in the 2nd round of the 1997 NPB draft as a pitcher, and he was turned into an outfielder in 2000. He led the Western League in homers in 2002, and he also went 0-for-5 with the top team. The Buffaloes then traded him with Hiroyuki Nakahama to the Yomiuri Giants for Yasuo Nagaike and Hitoshi Ono, and he was 0-for-4 in 2004. He crushed 22 homers in the minors and led the Eastern League in RBI in 2005, but he didn't reach the top team that season.

The Takasaki native went 2-for-9 in 2006, but he stayed in the minors for the entire 2007 season and the Giants released him. He then signed with the Softbank Hawks, and he was 5-for-19 in 2008. He crushed his 100th homer in the minors against Masayuki Hasegawa on August 13, 2008, and he finally hit his first career homer with the top team against Alex Graman 16 days later. Yoshikawa was 8-for-29 in 2009, but he failed to return to the top team in 2010 and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Yoshikawa hit .242/.319/.419 with 15 hits in 5 seasons in NPB.
