Previously known as the Modesto Reds, the Modesto Colts name was adopted when Modesto changed affiliations to the Houston Colt .45s for the 1962-1964 seasons. Future Hall of Fame member Joe Morgan played 45 games for Modesto in 1963. For the 1965 season, the Modesto Reds name would be revived.
