Biographical Information[edit]
Mitsuyoshi Masukawa was drafted by the Yakult Atoms in the 4th round of the 1971 NPB draft, and he mainly stayed in the minors in his first two seasons. He went 8-for-40 in 1974, then he played 79 games with a .256/.300/.349 batting line in 1975. However, Masukawa lost his spot at short after Shintaro Mizutani shined in 1976, and he only got 2 at-bats that season. Yakult then traded him to the Kintetsu Buffaloes for Takao Ise, and he was 3-for-13 in 1977. Masukawa was released in 1978, and he signed with the Seibu Lions. He only got 6 at-bats in 1979, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Masukawa hit .239/.295/.337 with 66 hits in 6 seasons in NPB.
