Ming-Jen Kuo played for Taiwan in the 1994 Little League World Series. Seven years later, he was a first-round draft pick of the Taichung Agan; he hit .254 for the club that year and .255 in 2002. When the Taiwan Major League folded, Kuo was out of work until 2005. That year, he was signed by the Macoto Cobras and batted .254/.308/.343. In 2006, he hit .275/.342/.321. In the 2007 CPBL, he produced at a .294/.360/.352 clip for the Cobras. During 2008, he hit .313/.404/.447 for the club, now renamed the dMedia T-Rex.

When the T-Rex folded due to a gambling scandal, Kuo was left without a club for 2009. He joined the Taiwan national team for the 2009 World Port Tournament, hitting .240/.387/.400 but fielding only .879 at shortstop. He tied for 6th in the event with 5 walks and just missed the top 10 in both slugging and OBP. Kuo remained with Taiwan for the 2009 Asian Championship.
