Biographical Information[edit]

Mike Marjama retired from baseball on July 6, 2018 at the age of 28 to accept a position with the National Eating Disorders Association. Marjama has suffered from anorexia, which was triggered by trying to cut weight for his high school wrestling team.

He had applied for reinstatement in 2019. However, before Commissioner Rob Manfred could consider this application, Marjama was suspended for 80 games for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs. The failed test and suspension was announced on May 2nd.

Marjama was hitting coach of the Beloit Sky Carp in 2024 and Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in 2025. He moved to the San Francisco Giants' organization as hitting coach of the San Jose Giants in 2026.
