He was drafted three times. Originally, he was taken by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 62nd round of the 1994 amateur draft, but opted not to sign. He was then taken by the Cardinals in the 64th round of the 1995 amateur draft, but again did not sign. He did ink a contract after being taken by the San Francisco Giants in the 10th round of the 1996 amateur draft, a few picks after future designated hitter Josh Phelps.

He reached Triple-A for the first and only time in 2000, hitting .194/.265/.374 with 6 home runs and 18 RBI in 40 games for the Fresno Grizzlies; he batted .240/.323/.442 with 22 home runs and 72 RBI on the year as a whole. He slipped to 12 home runs and 42 RBI in 2001, spending part of the year in the Arizona Diamondbacks chain and in 2002, he had just 59 at-bats in the Kansas City Royals system. He joined the independent ranks in 2003 to wrap up his career, hitting 9 homers with 37 RBI in 64 games for the New Jersey Jackals.
Overall, Glendenning hit .242/.339/.447 with 135 home runs, 468 RBI and 671 hits in 789 games over 8 seasons.
