Biographical Information

Mike Fisher played in the California League in the 1880s, noted as a speedy outfielder, before damaging his hand in a 1889 industrial accident. He then became a policeman in Sacramento, CA, rising to detective. He put on weight and became a repeat champion in local fat men races. He is recorded as having played in 1 game for the Tacoma Tigers of the Pacific Coast League in 1905 at age 43. In 1 at-bat, he picked up a hit. He was the manager of the club from 1904 to 1905, and would occasionally put himself in to play in some games, although current records may be lacking. He also managed the Fresno Raisin Eaters in 1906. He organized the first tour of MLB players to play against Japanese clubs, in 1908.
