Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Mick Fieldbinder played his final two years of college baseball with the University of Montevallo Falcons and graduated in 1996 with a degree in Mass Communication. The Milwaukee Brewers drafted him in the 35th round of the 1996 Amateur Draft and he played in their minor league system in 1996-1997. Fieldbinder spent the following season in the Minnesota Twins organization before playing two final seasons in the independent Northern League.

Fieldbinder began his coaching career as a assistant coach at his alma mater in 2000. He coached the Spain Park High School Jaguars in 2002-2004 under head coach Casey Dunn. When the latter took a job as head coach of Samford University, Fieldbinder joined him. Fieldbinder was an assistant coach at Samford from 2005-2013. In 2011 he was named the Assistant Coach of the Year by the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association. During that season, Fieldbinder's pitching staff posted the lowest earned run average in the Southern Conference with a 3.11 ERA. The staff also led the conference in opponent batting average (.242), runs allowed (237), earned runs allowed (181), doubles allowed (76) and strikeouts (479).[1]

It is unclear what Fieldbinder did after leaving Samford. He may have been a baseball coach at SLAM Sports Academy in Birmingham, AL.[2]

In 2023, the Pittsburgh Pirates hired Fieldbinder as a pitching coach for the FCL Pirates. He remained in this position through the 2025 season.
