Biographical Information[edit]

In his brief MLB cup of coffee with the St. Louis Cardinals, Micah Franklin hit .324/.378/.500 in 34 at-bats; he started off hot, carrying a .421/.476/.737 line through his first 19 ABs. His two home runs came off pitchers Ken Ryan and John Smoltz in a span of four days. He hit exactly 200 home runs in the minor leagues, and 258 overall, including his time overseas. He was a Triple-A regular, playing 694 of his 1,141 minor league games at that level (and nearly half of all his games at that level).

Franklin worked as a Seattle Mariners professional scout from 2014-2016. He then joined the Arizona Diamondbacks organization as a hitting coach for the Missoula Osprey in 2017, Hillsboro Hops in 2018, and Kane County Cougars in 2019. Franklin was scheduled to coach AZL Diamondbacks hitters in 2020 before COVID-19 shut down the minor league season. He coached hitters for the Visalia Rawhide in 2021.

Franklin moved to the Washington Nationals' organization as hitting coach of the Harrisburg Senators in 2022. After the season he was a coach for the Peoria Javelinas in the Arizona Fall League. Franklin coached Wilmington Blue Rocks hitters in 2023. He left affiliated ball after the season.

In 2024, the Oakland Ballers of the independent Pioneer League hired Franklin as their first manager. However, they fired him on July 21st for unspecified reasons when the team had a 29-25 record. Shortly thereafter, Franklin opened his own training facility in Chandler, AZ which he named 7to22 based upon a hitting philosophy that Franklin developed.[1] As of early 2026, the business is still in operation.
