Biographical Information[edit]
Masahito Watanabe was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the 3rd round of the 1985 NPB draft, and he had a 3.57 ERA in 4 games for the Miami Marlins (at that point, a minor league team) in 1987. However, he suffered from a shoulder injury, and he didn't reach the big club before he was turned into an outfielder in 1995. He finally reached the top team in 1997, and he was 3-for-15 in his first season. Watanabe only got 3 more at-bats for the big club before he announced his retirement in 2000. He later became a scout, signing Daiki Masuda, Kazuma Okamoto and Takumi Oshiro.
