Biographical Information[edit]
Lewis Castillo has played in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.
He was signed by New York Mets scout Robert Espejo in December 2019. [1] After the 2020 minor league season was not held due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he made his pro debut with the 2021 DSL Mets 2, hitting .264/.333/.322 and fielding .994 at first. He split 2022 between the DSL Mets 2 and DSL Mets 1, posting a composite batting line of .295/.411/.318 while mainly playing 2B (.930) and 3B (1.000). In '23, he produced at a .303/.385/.378 rate for the DSL Mets Orange with 24 runs in 35 games, fielding .889 at the hot corner.
In the 2024 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he hit .231/.333/.231 with 5 runs and 5 RBI in 8 games, handling 7 putouts in center. [2] At the 2025 Bolivarian Games, he was 2 for 9 with a walk, double, run and two RBI, splitting second with Ángel Arévalo for the Bronze Medal winners. He had one putout, four assists and no errors.
