Biographical Information

Kodai Umetsu has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Umetsu was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 2nd round of the 2018 NPB draft; the scout was Eiji Shotsu. He was 4-1 with a 2.34 ERA in his first season, and he went 2-3 with a 3.74 ERA in 2020. Umetsu had a 1.59 ERA in 3 starts in 2021, then he underwent Tommy John surgery and he missed the next season. He returned in 2023 and had a 0.59 ERA in 3 games, then he went 2-8 with a 4.07 ERA in 2024. However, Umetsu underwent shoulder surgery in 2025, and he missed the entire season.
