Biographical Information[edit]

Kiyoshi Arai played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.

Arai was drafted by the Yakult Swallows in the 4th round of the 1990 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first season. He hit .250/.337/.288 in 128 games for the Salinas Spurs in 1992, and he had a .148/.207/.296 batting line in 22 games for Yakult in 1993. Arai played 42 games with a .222/.322/.313 batting line in 1994, but he only got 6 at-bats combined in the next two seasons. The Swallows then traded him to the Yokohama BayStars for cash, and he batted .158/.284/.228 in 53 games in 1997. He was 2-for-12 in 1998, and he only played one game in the next two seasons. The BayStars then traded him with Hisashi Tokano and Tatsuya Shindo to the Orix Blue Wave for Hirofumi Ogawa, Yu Sugimoto and Kazuyuki Maeda, and he was 0-for-4 in 2001 then he announced his retirement in 2002.

Overall, Arai hit .180/.287/.268 with 37 hits in 7 seasons in NPB.
