Biographical Information[edit]
Kento Kumabara has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Kumabara was 13-4 with a 1.42 ERA in his college career, and he represented Japan in the 2014 Haarlem Baseball Week and 2014 U-21 Baseball World Cup (in which he pitched four shutout innings for the Silver Medalists). The Yokohama BayStars selected him in the 2nd round of the 2015 NPB draft, and he had a 4.97 ERA in 18 appearances in 2016. He went 7-6 with a 3.67 ERA in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2017. and he was 4th in wins in the Eastern League (2 behind Nobutaka Imamura). However, he went 3-1 with a 5.40 ERA for the big club, and he didn't reach the top team in 2018. The BayStars then traded him to the Rakuten Golden Eagles for Kodai Hamaya, and he only pitched one game for their major team before he announced his retirement in 2020.
