Biographical Information

Kodai Hamaya was drafted by the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the 3rd round of the 2013 NPB draft, and he only pitched one game for the big club in his first season. He had a 7.20 ERA in 8 appearances in 2015, and he struggled again in 2016 as his ERA was 10.24 in 13 games. Hamaya pitched 9 games with a 5.19 ERA in 2017, and the Golden Eagles traded him to the Yokohama BayStars for Kento Kumabara after he had a 3.72 ERA in 7 games in 2018. He allowed 6 runs in 1 2/3 innings in 2019, and he was 3-0 with a 1.44 ERA for the Venados de Mazatlan in the winter. Hamaya didn't reach the big club in 2020, and he was released. He then pitched 3 games with a 4.05 ERA for the El Águila de Veracruz in 2021, and he surrendered 8 runs in 5 1/3 innings for the Venados in the winter. Hamaya was 0-2 with a 3.49 ERA for Italy's Nettuno in 2022, and he had a 2-5 record with a 7.65 ERA for the Canberra Cavalry in the 2023-2024 ABL
