Kentaro Hashimoto played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.
Hashimoto was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 4th round of the 2004 NPB draft, and he notched 9 holds with a 2.30 ERA in 51 appearances in his first season. He allowed 5 runs, including 2 homers by Benny Agbayani and Tomoya Satozaki, in 2005 Nippon Series Game 1, and he pitched 2 shutout innings in Game 3. The Chiba Lotte Marines swept the Tigers. Hashimoto only pitched 2 games due to a right shoulder injury in 2006, and he went 3-2 with 6 holds and a 4.74 ERA in 46 games in 2007. His ERA was 5.54 in 10 games in 2008, and the Tigers traded him to the Chiba Lotte Marines for Yasutomo Kubo. Hashimoto only pitched 2 innings in 2009, and he had a 6.35 ERA in 9 appearances in 2010. He pitched 13 games with a 4.20 ERA in 2012, and he announced his retirement after staying in the minors for the entire 2013 season. He then became a batting practice pitcher for the Tigers.
Overall, Hashimoto was 6-5 with 17 holds and a 3.94 ERA, struck out 161 and pitched 153 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
