Biographical Information[edit]

Keisuke Kaneko played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Kaneko was drafted by the Daiei Hawks in the 6th round of the 2003 NPB draft, and he only got 7 at-bats combined for the big club in his first four seasons. He was 4-for-34 in 2008, and he went 0-for-6 in 17 games in 2009. The Hawks then traded him with Hisao Arakane to the Orix Buffaloes for Takehito Kanazawa, and he hit .217/.265/.304 in 31 games in 2010. He was hitless in 12 at-bats in 2011, and he was traded back to the Hawks for Hideaki Takahashi. Kaneko had a 2-for-11 record in 41 games in 2012, and he hit .325/.400/.450 in 49 plate appearances over 59 games in 2013; he backed up Bryan LaHair at 1B and Yuichi Honda at 2B primarily that year. He slumped to .208/.345/.250 in 2014, and he only got 9 more at-bats at the top level (playing regularly in the minors still) before announced his retirement in 2016.

Overall, Kaneko hit .197/.282/.254 with 42 hits in 10 seasons in NPB.
