Biographical Information[edit]

Keaton Hayenga pitched in the Kansas City Royals system from 2009 to 2011, peaking at Single-A. He was taken by the club in the 31st round of the 2007 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Scott Ramsay.

He was 4-7 with a 3.66 ERA in 13 starts for the Burlington Royals his first year (tying multiple pitchers for the Appalachian League-lead in starts; he tied multiple pitchers for second in losses, behind Steven Upchurch's 10), but slipped to 3-12 with a 6.13 mark in 21 games (19 starts) for Burlington in his sophomore try. In 2011, he was 1-1, 5.85 in 4 starts for the Kane County Cougars. Overall, he was 8-20 with a 5.25 ERA in 38 games (36 starts). In 192 innings, he allowed 219 hits and 70 walks (1.505 WHIP), while striking out 88 batters.
