Biographical Information[edit]
Kazuyoshi Koyama was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 6th round of the 1984 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first two seasons. He went 4-for-17 in 1987, and he hit .311/.390/.423 in 61 games for the GCL Dodgers in 1988. He was 4th in the Gulf Coast League in average, after Scott Tedder, Dino Ebel and Mike Rhodes, 3rd in slugging (after Ebel and Hernan Cortes) and 3rd in OPS (behind Ebel and Tedder). He also led the league's outfielders in fielding (77 TC, 0 E). He was left off the All-Star team as Tedder, Rhodes and Brian Davis were selected. Koyama then had a 5-for-28 record in 1989, and he played 55 games with a .265/.324/.324 batting line in 1990. He only got 19 at-bats combined in the next three seasons, and he was 8-for-43 in 1995. He had a 1-for-9 record in 1996, then he announced his retirement in 1997.
