Biographical Information

Katsuya Okubo was drafted by the Taiyo Whales in the 6th round of the 1985 NPB draft, and he hit .254/.336/.338 in 60 games for the Butte Copper Kings in 1987. However, he failed to reach the big club, and he announced his retirement in 1990. He later scouted for the Rakuten Golden Eagles, signing Shota Watanabe, Atsuki Mutoh, Katsutoshi Tai and Konosuke Tatsumi. His brother is Japan national baseball team coach Tetsuya Okubo.
