Biographical Information[edit]
Katsutoshi Tai has played in Nippon Pro Baseball. His sister Mika Tai pitched for the Japanese women's national team.
Tai was drafted by the Rakuten Golden Eagles in the 4th round of the 2021 NPB draft, the scout was Katsuya Okubo.[1] He only pitched 2 games in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2022, and he missed the entire 2023 season due to Tommy John surgery. Tai returned in 2024, and he only recorded 1 2/3 innings in the minors. He improved to a 1.80 ERA with 30 saves in 38 relief outings in 2025, and he led the Western League in saves, two ahead of Tomoki Uemura. He also completed 6 1/3 shutout innings for the top team.
