Biographical Information[edit]
Katsukuni Yamada played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.
Yamada signed with the Kintetsu Buffaloes in 1963, and he went 0-for-6 in his first season. He hit .180/.194/.230 in 79 games in 1964, and he had a 9-for44 record in 1965. Yamada was 7-for-53 in 1966, and he recorded a .206/.230/.246 batting line in 137 at-bats in 1967. He batted .224/.279/.347 in 21968, and the Buffaloes named him their starting centerfielder in 1969. Yamada had a .228/.277/.370 batting line with 9 homers that season, and he blasted a career-high 13 homers with a .236/.332/.429 batting line in 1970. He slumped to .200/.264/.360 in 1971, and he was traded to the Yakult Atoms tor Toshitaka Tameike. Yamada was 9-for-46 in 1972, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Yamada hit .214/.273/.340 with 247 hits and 29 homers in 10 seasons in NPB.
