Biographical Information[edit]
Kashiwa Odano played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.
Odano signed with the Hankyu club in 1938, and he went 3-2 with a 1.69 ERA in the spring season. He was 1-1 with a 3.00 ERA in the fall season, and he missed the next three seasons due to military service. Odano returned in 1942, and he went 1-4 with a 0.83 ERA that season. He also hit .147/.203/.163 as an outfielder, and he enlisted into the military. Odano signed with the Mainichi Orions in 1950, and he had a .260/.288/.429 batting line that season. The Orions then traded him with Sunao Imakurusu to the Nishitetsu Lions for Keitaro Kitagawa, and he had a 15-for-53 record in the rest of the season. Odano played 77 games with a .286/.312/.336 batting line in 1951, and he hit .270/.285/.327 in 1952. He then went to the Kintetsu Buffaloes, and he crushed 4 homers with a .251/.296/.347 batting line. The Takahashi Unions then selected him when they were founded in 1954, and he collected 4 triples with a .233/.280/.312 batting line. He announced his retirement after that season, and he coached the Unions in 1955.
Overall, Odano hit .245/.286/.316 with 368 hits and 11 homers in 7 seasons in NPB. He was 5-7 with a 1.55 ERA as a pitcher.
