Biographical Information[edit]

Kaoru Nimura played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years. His brother Toru Nimura also played in NPB.

Like his brother, Nimura was a pitcher in high school and college who spent his career as a position player. The Yomiuri Giants took him in the 6th round of the 1981 NPB draft. By the time he came up in 1984, he was an outfielder; he was 1 for 12 with a walk and 5 runs in 26 games, presumably used frequently as a pinch-runner. He hit .238/.284/.381 in 69 plate appearances over 72 games in 1985 and was 4 for 23 with two doubles in 1986. He played 98 games in 1987 and put up a .212/.243/.288 line in his 70 plate appearances. He did not play in Yomiuri's six-game loss to the Seibu Lions in the 1987 Japan Series. The starting outfielders for Yomiuri were Sadaaki Yoshimura, Norihiro Komada and Warren Cromartie. The Giants released him after that season.

Signing with the Chunichi Dragons in 1988, Nimura hit .287/.304/.509 with 7 homers and 24 RBI in 108 at-bats. He fell to .230/.278/.360 in a career-high 116 plate appearances in 1989 and went 3 for 22 with a double and homer in 1990. He was the minor league fielding coach for Yomiuri from 1995 to 1997, and he coached in the Dragons system from 1998 to 2002; he was their fielding coach for the top team in 1999. Nimura managed the minors team of the Rakuten Golden Eagles in 2011, and Senshu University named him their assistant coach in 2021.

Overall, he had hit .231/.264/.383 with 15 homers in 394 at-bats over 396 games in NPB.
