Biographical Information[edit]
Kaito Muramatsu has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Muramatsu was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 2nd round of the 2022 NPB draft; the scout was Tomoya Yagi. He crushed his first career homer on May 14 - a grand slam against Yasuhiro Ogawa of the Yakult Swallows. He was the first Chunichi rookie to hit a grand slam as his first career homer, and he was also the first Chunichi rookie to hit a grand slam since Shinichi Eto in 1959. Muramatsu collected his second sayonara hit on June 2, and he became the second Chunichi rookie to hit multiple walk-off hits in a season, following Satoshi Sugiyama in 1948. He ended up hitting .207/.252/.240 in 98 games in his rookie year.
The Shizuoka native set the team record for getting a hit in eight straight plate appearances, doing it on May 4 against the Swallows. However, he suffered from left shoulder injury, so he missed a month. Muramatsu played 109 games as Chunichi's starting shortstop, and his batting line was .275/.327/.337 with 14 doubles. He led the Central League with a .988 fielding percentage as a shortstop.
