Biographical Information[edit]
Kai Ueda has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Ueda was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 5th round of the 2014 NPB draft; the scout was Toru Ikenoue. He spent his first two seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues, and he represented Japan in the 2016 U-23 Baseball World Cup. He batted .300/.417/.300 for the champs. He led the event with six sacrifice hits and six swipes, one ahead of Tae-jin Kim. He then went 5-for-18 in 2017, and he hit .192/.289/.197 with 19 steals in 2018. He was 6th in steals in the Central Leagues. Ueda then went 8-for-33 with 12 steals in 81 games in 2019, and he recorded a .153/.351/.186 batting line in 74 games in 2020. He was Hanshin's main pinch-runner in 2021, and he collected 15 runs, 10 steals and 2 hits in 64 games. Ueda was 3-for-12 in 57 games in 2022, and he only got one at-bat with 9 runs in 28 games in 2023. He scored 11 with 3 hits in 59 games in 2024, and he was 1-for-17 in 42 games in 2025.
