Biographical Information[edit]
Jose Amancio was 6-3 with a 2.13 ERA for the 1999 DSL Athletics West. In 2000, he went 3-3 with a 6.88 ERA for the AZL Athletics. He ended his playing career in 2001 by going 7-3 with a 3.71 ERA for the AZL A's. He was one win shy of the Arizona League lead.
The San Diego Padres hired Amancio in 2007 to coach in their player development system. He was the assistant pitching coach of the DSL Padres in 2007, then served as pitching coach from 2008-2011. After 2011 Amancio was away from coaching in affiliated ball for several years. From 2013-2016 he worked with the MLB development program as a pitching coach for international talent in the Dominican Republic.[1]
Amancio joined the Seattle Mariners organization in 2018. He was the pitching coach for the DSL Mariners in 2018-2022. The Mariners promoted Amancio to manager of the team in 2023 where he remained through the 2024 season. He returned to the pitching coach role in 2025-2026.
