Biographical Information[edit]

Jorge Castillo pitched in the minor leagues and for the Mexico national team.

Castillo began his professional career with the Diablos Rojos del Mexico in 2003, and he pitched 1/3 of an inning with a run allowed. He also represented Mexico in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, giving up two runs in 1 2/3 IP. He stayed with the Diablos in 2004 (0-1, 2.08 in 7 G), and he had a 6.15 ERA in 20 appearances in 2005. Castillo then went 6-1 with a 4.05 ERA in 2006, and he had a 2.38 ERA and 3 saves in 31 appearances for the Algodoneros de Guasave in the winter. He pitched 4 games with a 2.81 ERA for the Algodoneros in the next season, then he went 8-3 with a 3.84 ERA in 2008. Castillo's ERA was 3.51 in 20 games in the winter.

The Culiacan native went 2-1 with a 4.58 ERA for the Diablos in 2009, and he also pitched 8 games with a 3-3 record and a 4.67 ERA for the Guerreros de Oaxaca. He was 0-3 with a 6.85 ERA n 25 games in the winter, then he went 6-0 with a 3.34 ERA for the Diablos in 2010. He struggled with the Guerreros that season as he pitched 15 games with a 6.97 ERA, and he also went 5-2 with a 4.55 ERA for the Algodoneros. Castillo was 6-3 with a 3.83 ERA for the Guerreros in 2011 and no-hit the Petroleros de Minatitlán, but he struggled with the Diablos this time as he surrendered 7 runs in 4 2/3 innings. He was 4-4 with a 2.57 ERA in the winter.

Castillo recorded a 7.62 ERA in 15 appearances for the Venados de Mazatlan in 2012, and he also went 7-7 with a 6.11 ERA in Oaxaca. He struggled again in 2013 as he was 2-8 with a 7.21 ERA for the Guerreros, then he went 2-4 with a 6.00 ERA for the Piratas de Campeche in 2014. Castillo was 4-4 with a 2.63 ERA for the Sultanes de Monterrey that season, and his ERA was 4.71 with a 2-3 record for the Yaquis de Obregon and with a 1-2 record for the Mayos de Navojoa. He went 8-4 with a 4.38 ERA for the Piratas in 2015, and he pitched 13 games with a 5-3 record and a 4.32 ERA for the Mayos in the winter.

In 2016, Castillo went 7-8 with a 3.19 ERA for the Piratas but slumped to 2-3 with a 5.81 ERA for the Mayos in the winter. He then had a 5.92 ERA in 12 starts with a 2-5 record in 2017, and he only pitched 2 games with a 3.38 ERA for the Toros de Tijuana in 2018. He was 3-1 with a 2.17 ERA for the Naranjeros de Hermosillo in the winter, then he went 11-8 with a 4.60 ERA for the Tigres de Quintana Roo in 2019 to finish 7th in the Mexican League in victories. Catillo was 3-3 with a 1.93 ERA for the Naranjeros in the winter, and he went 1-4 with a 2.63 ERA in the next season. He was 3-0 with a 4.06 ERA for the Acereros de Monclova in 2022, and he pitched 11 games with a 1.62 ERA for the Tomateros de Culiacan in the winter. That was his last season as a professional player.
