Biographical Information[edit]

John Zeitler was captain of the Michigan State College team that played in the 1954 College World Series. He played in the Minor Leagues in 1954 and 1956 in the Detroit Tigers minor league system. An infielder, he split 1954 between the Valdosta Tigers (.247, .315 SLG in 24 G, 17 E in 19 games at SS), Jamestown Falcons (8 for 50, 2 2B) and Durham Bulls (8 for 51, 2B, 3B). In 1956, he was 11 for 72 with no extra-base hits for the Palatka Tigers.

After baseball, Zeitler became a priest and teacher in Batavia, NY and Buffalo, NY.
